Babysitting for a 2-year-old child requires discipline and patience. One day, I had the opportunity to babysit for Wan Hsia, who was only two years old at that time. She was full of energy and curiosity, constantly exploring her surroundings and testing the limits of what she could do. On one particular day, I decided to let Wan Hsa play with some safe toys while I did some housework. However, as I turned my back for a moment, she quickly crawled over to where I was working and pulled on my shirt. In that split second, I lost control of my temper. Without thinking, I slapped her face softly and said, "No, no!" Then, I realized what I had done and felt terrible about it. Wan Hsia looked at me with shock in her eyes, tears welling up instantly. I immediately hugged her tightly to comfort her. I realized that there are better ways to discipline a child without resorting to physical punishment. Since then, I have learned more effective strategies for managing children's behavior, such as positive reinforcement and redirecting their attention towards appropriate activities. As a result of this experience, I became more mindful of my reactions when dealing with children, especially in stressful situations. By practicing self-control and choosing alternative methods to guide them, we can raise healthier and happier children.
